To be the core person-to-person networking resource for the wealth and investment management industry.

 

VISION

To create a member network which offers a forum for interactions on industry-related topics, provides opportunities to collaborate on tips, tricks, and industry best practices, and channels feedback to industry service providers. 

 

HISTORY

Founded in 1998, AUG is the product of a strong desire a dedicated group of investment professionals had to bring people together in an independent forum to connect, collaborate and share solutions. At that time, the mission included communicating members' software needs back to Advent Software©. Today, AUG remains committed to leveraging its collective voice with industry vendors while fostering a spirit of collaboration within the investment management community.

 

1996
Investment firm professionals from across the country gathered at Advent Software bi-annual conferences. After realizing the productivity of the Special Interest Group conference sessions, a group of users determined it was time to create a network community for Advent users. By forming such a group, they realized the value they could provide one another in sharing workflow issues & solutions, best practices, tips & tricks that could ultimately be passed to Advent as a unified voice.

1997
In the fall of 1997, six independent Advent firms participated in a pre-conference meeting to determine the specific needs of a users group. They formalized a mission statement, established focus groups, set an agenda for the upcoming year, and scheduled a meeting with Advent Software to inform them of their intentions to create an independent, non-profit, users group organization.

1998
By spring, the Advent Users Group was officially established. Bylaws were finalized, board members were selected, and the first AUG Board meeting was held the day before Advent’s Spring Conference. Shortly after, the board decided to hire a part-time Executive Director.

2001 to 2008
The AUG Office grew to include two full-time staff members, thus allowing the organization to offer additional events such as Member Meetings and conference calls, establish focus groups and form the AUG Advent Relationship Committees. The Asset Management Operations & Compensation Survey was also born.

2013
The AUG Office expanded to include a third staff member to enhance member services offerings while expanding marketing efforts. Partnering with Advent Software in the launch of Advent DirectTM Community, AUG garnered its members status within the Community forums.

2014
AUG members leverage the robust resources on the Advent DirectTM Community forums while benefiting from valuable person-to-person networking via Member Meetings, web conference calls, focus groups, and maintaining access to insightful resources on the AUG website.

2015
Members vote to amend the bylaws modifying the membership eligibility requirements and rebranding as "AUG, The Exchange" to reflect the organization's shift to be a core networking resource for the entire wealth and investment management industry.  SS&C Technologies acquires Advent Software, Inc.
